MTN Uganda CFO Andrew Bugembe has nearly two decades of experience in the telecommunications sector in Africa, having led finance functions for MTN in Ghana, Congo and Liberia.
MTN Uganda CFO Andrew Bugembe has entered the race for the 2025 CFO Awards for East Africa. The awards highlight outstanding financial leadership, innovation and strategic management, honouring executives who have made significant contributions to their organisations and the broader business community.
The ceremony scheduled for 27 November in Nairobi will host top CFOs, VIPs and business partners for an exquisite evening of networking, entertainment and fine cuisine.
Andrew was appointed as the CFO of MTN Uganda in April 2020. He also serves as a non-executive director at MTN South Sudan.
He joined the telco as a financial manager in January 2006 before taking on the role of senior manager, financial operations, in April 2009. In May 2010 he became the general manager for financial operations at MTN Ghana, serving in the role until March 2013, when he was appointed as general manager for financial planning and analysis. Andrew transitioned to MTN Liberia in October 2014, when he assumed the role of CFO for a two-year stint. In August 2016, he was appointed as the CFO of MTN Congo.
Andrew holds a master’s in commerce from the University of Wollongong and has completed Harvard Business School’s Leadership for Senior Executives programme.
