Flora Makule nominated for the 2026 CFO Awards

Flora Makule, CFO at Reliance Insurance Company Tanzania, is among the nominees for the 2026 CFO East Africa Awards, with over 17 years of experience across insurance and banking in Tanzania.

Reliance Insurance Tanzania CFO Flora Makule has been nominated for the 2026 CFO East Africa Awards.

Since joining Reliance Insurance in May 2018, Flora has risen to CFO, overseeing financial management and strategic planning.

During her tenure, she has championed the implementation of IFRS 9 and helped navigate the transition to IFRS 17. She also facilitated the acquisition of bancassurance business from multiple banks, which now accounts for 40 percent of total company revenue.

Before joining Reliance Insurance, she spent nearly a decade at Akiba Commercial Bank, where she held roles spanning finance officer, senior supervisor, financial analyst and manager of management accounting.

She began her career as an audit trainee at EY Tanzania.

Flora holds a Master's in international business and is a certified public accountant in Tanzania. She has completed executive education programmes at Strathmore Business School, IESE Business School and Strathmore University.

Dubbed the "Oscars of Finance", the CFO Awards celebrate leaders who raise the bar for financial leadership across East Africa.

The 2026 nominees will be celebrated at a gala event on 26 November, where winners will be announced.
