Sotta Mining CFO Isaac Lupokela joins the running for the first-ever CFO Awards for East Africa.
Sotta Mining CFO Isaac Lupokela has been nominated for the inaugural CFO Awards for East Africa. He becomes the 20th finance executives to join the list of nominees for the 2025 ‘Oscars of Finance’, which celebrate exemplary finance leadership.
Isaac joined Sotta Mining in June 2023 after a six-year stint at Tanga Cement, where he was appointed as financial controller in December 2016. In March 2020, he was promoted to head of finance, a position he held until June 2023. Before that, Isaac was the senior manager for tax, compliance and financial reporting at Kilombero Sugar Company & Illovo Distillers, where he worked from January 2015 to November 2016.
He began his career at PwC Tanzania in August 2010, rising to the position of senior tax consultant over a three-year period. He served as tax, treasury and accounts payable manager at Zantel from March to December 2014 after transitioning from his role as assistant tax manager at Airtel Tanzania between September 2013 and March 2014.
Isaac holds a BCom in accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam. He has completed executive training programmes in senior leadership, corporate finance, scenario planning, and strategic thinking at Harvard Business School and GIBS Business School.
