Allan Wainaina was appointed chief finance officer of Telkom Kenya in August 2021.

He is a seasoned finance professional and business leader, with a wide range of international experience in financial management, audit,general management and strategy.

Prior to joining the telecommunications company, Allan held the role of Group CFO at Java House Africa. This was after spending almost two decades in various financial positions, across a number of countries, at British American Tobacco (BAT).

Allan began his career at BAT in 1999 as an area audit manager for the East Africa Area. He soon took up the position of Finance manager, before moving into the Finance director and company secretary role for the organisation’s Zambian operations. After spending time leading finance functions for Sub-Saharan Africa, East and Central Africa, he took on the role of Finance director for BAT Congo.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a certified public accountant in Kenya.
