Abhishek Jogani appointed finance lead at Prudential Africa

post-title

Abhishek Jogani has recently been appointed Regional Financial Controller of Prudential Africa, based in Nairobi.

His journey with Prudential began in India at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited. Over five years, he gained extensive experience in financial reporting and analysis, led the IFRS 17 project, and supported the company's IPO.

In September 2019, Abhishek moved to Prudential plc's Group Head Office in Hong Kong as Regional Manager for Accounting Policy, where he tackled complex financial challenges. In October 2021, he was promoted to Senior Regional Manager, contributing to regional governance forums, local audit committees, and the IFRS 17 project.

Abhishek took on the role in Nairobi seeking a new challenge. He noted, " Meeting the enormous need for affordable and accessible insurance solutions is at the heart of the renewed quest by Prudential to reposition itself in Africa. Not long ago, Prudential made a deliberate decision to move its Africa Regional Headquarters from London to Nairobi to provide its businesses across the continent with greater support and to be closer to its customers, partners and distributors. My experience in India and understanding of Group expectations position me to add value here."

He also aims to bridge the gap between finance and actuarial work in the insurance sector. "As a finance professional, I intend to work collaboratively with Actuaries’ across Africa to improve low insurance penetration levels that currently stand at less than 3 percent." he concluded.
