Amr Atef has been appointed as the chief financial officer of M-PESA Africa, bringing with him over two decades of experience in the finance sector. He assumed his new role in September 2024 and is now based in Nairobi, Kenya, where he will oversee the company’s financial operations.
His extensive background, which spans across several markets in Africa, positions him well to lead the financial strategy for M-PESA, one of Africa’s leading mobile payment services.
Prior to joining M-PESA Africa, Amr held the role of head of financial planning, reporting, and business intelligence at Vodafone Egypt, where he served for over six years. During his time there, he was instrumental in managing the financial health of the company and implementing key financial processes. His tenure with Vodafone also included significant roles in Vodacom Tanzania and Vodacom DRC, where he oversaw financial operations and played a pivotal role in the successful launch of Vodacom Tanzania’s initial public offering (IPO) and other major finance transformation projects.
Amr’s career has been marked by notable achievements in finance, including the implementation of business transformation programs, managing IPO preparations, and leading multi-dimensional finance development programs. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting from Helwan University and is a certified public accountant (CPA), with additional credentials in international financial reporting. As he steps into his new role at M-PESA Africa, Amr is expected to bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership that will contribute to the company’s continued growth across the continent.
