Calvin Mugume takes on CFO role at Next Media

Calvin Mugume has been appointed as the chief finance officer of Next Media. The first-time CFO joins the Ugandan multimedia company after five years as the audit and finance lead at sustainable impact finance institution Platcorp Group, boasting over a decade of experience across multiple industries.

“We are delighted to announce that Calvin Mugume has joined Next Media as our chief finance officer (CFO). Calvin brings a wealth of experience in financial strategy and management. As we continue our journey of informing to transform, Calvin's leadership will be instrumental in driving impactful financial decisions that support our mission,” the company said.

Calvin cut his teeth as an audit associate and later audit senior at EY, serving at the firm for three years before joining NCBA group as a finance analyst. In 2015, he became the financial audit manager at the financial services conglomerate, a position he held for nearly two years. 

Between 2016 and 2018, Calvin was an accredited financial management consultant at the International Fund for Agricultural Development, where he ensured compliance with IFAD’s financial requirements and supported project financial management.

I hope to achieve  financial stability for the group, drive growth through strategic planning, and managing cash flow effectively. I'd prioritise digital transformation and strategic M&A opportunities. I would also like to foster strong investor relations and build a collaborative finance culture,” Calvin adds.
