Caroline Wambugu takes on expanded finance leadership role at Safaricom

Her remit now extends beyond FP&A and investor relations to cover financial controlling, reporting, tax, treasury, shared services, and credit collections.

Caroline Wambugu has been appointed group lead for finance controls, performance and investor relations at Safaricom.

She steps up from her previous role as head of finance, planning, analysis and investor relations, which she held from December 2021.

Caroline joined NIC Bank in June 2003 as head of business performance, a role she held for nearly 13 years.

In April 2016 she moved to Absa Bank Kenya as head of finance decision support, spending close to six years overseeing the function before joining Safaricom in December 2021.

She is a certified public accountant (CPA-K) and brings 24 years of experience across banking and telecoms.
