Central Bank of Kenya FD Caroline Mackola nominated for inaugural CFO Awards

The experienced finance executive will compete in the first-ever 'Oscars of Finance', where 10 awards are up for grabs.

Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) finance director Caroline Mackola has been nominated for the 2025 CFO Awards for East Africa.

The awards aim to recognise finance leaders of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities, and government institutions who demonstrate exceptional leadership. The winners will be awarded at an exclusive ceremony to be held on 27 November in Nairobi. 

She was appointed as director of finance at the Central Bank of Kenya in February 2021 after a two-year stint as the head of financial control at KCB Group. 

Caroline began her career as an audit associate at PwC in September 2007, having pivoted from electrical engineering, her original area of study. Between June 2008 and February 2011, she worked as a tax consultant at the audit firm, eventually joining East African Breweries (EABL) as a tax compliance manager in March 2011. Caroline took on the role of group tax manager in August 2013, later transitioning to group record to report manager in July 2014. She served in this role for three years before her appointment as head of financial control at KCB Group.

Caroline holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
