Rayson Foya has taken up the role of CFO at NBC Tanzania, effective 1 September 2024. He replaces Waziri Barnabas who has retired. Rayson leaves Standard Chartered after 19 years of service, having begun as a clearing officer in 2005 before moving to finance, where he held various roles including management accountant and head of business finance for corporate banking.
Rayson was appointed as executive director of finance and CFO of Standard Chartered in 2018. The University of Dar es Salaam alumnus holds a bachelor of commerce in accounting and is a qualified certified public accountant, boasting expertise in strategic financial planning, analysis, and balance sheet and financial risk management.
During his tenure at Standard Chartered, Rayson was a champion of the bank’s financial education employee volunteering programme, which has trained nearly 1000 people. In 2016, he completed a short-term assignment as senior manager at the bank’s head office in London. He also took part in the CFO academy in Hong Kong in 2018 and thereafter participated in the CEO apprenticeship programme, an initiative of CEO roundtable of Tanzania, in 2019.
Rayson is a regular participant in joint industry technical committees coordinated by the Tanzania Bankers Association and Bank of Tanzania. He is credited as the force behind improvements in Standard Chartered’s financial performance and operational efficiency.
