Effective 1 April, David Muriithi will take on the role of financial controller at Diageo North America in Bangalore after three years as finance and strategy director at Serengeti Breweries, a Diageo subsidiary.
With a track record of navigating complex market conditions with a focus on data-driven decision-making, compliance, and risk management, David boasts nearly 20 years’ experience in finance and strategy across multinational organisations.
David began his career as a senior associate at PwC, thereafter joining British American Tobacco (BAT), where he rose up the ranks to commercial finance manager. He was appointed head of commercial finance at Diageo subsidiary Kenya Breweries in 2019 before assuming the position of group head of finance at East African Breweries Limited (EABL) two years later. The role saw him act as a key finance business partner to the group CEO and CFO in delivering business performance across tKenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
In 2020, David became the finance director at Diageo Ethiopia, where he was responsible for the overall financial planning of the business and reporting. He led the finance function as a key business partnering arm, driving performance in a complex and volatile environment with tax challenges and forex sensitivity.
David holds a Bachelor of Business and Management (Finance) from Moi University, and is a certified public accountant, certified public secretary and information systems auditor.
