She steps up from her role as head of financial decision support at the bank.
Diana Wangari Mwaniki has been appointed acting chief financial officer at Absa Bank Kenya, effective 1 July 2026, pending regulatory approval.
She has served as head of financial decision support at Absa Bank Kenya since September 2022, concurrently holding the position of finance director at Absa Bancassurance Intermediary (ABIL).
"A results-driven professional with over 17 years of progressive experience in financial services, Diana brings deep expertise in strategic financial management, resource allocation, internal controls, financial reporting, and risk management, consistently delivering impactful outcomes throughout her career," the bank said.
Prior to Absa, Diana spent close to eight years at Stanbic Bank Kenya, where she served as manager of internal controls and financial reporting from August 2015 before being promoted to financial controller in March 2020.
She began her career at Ernst & Young (EY) in Nairobi, where she worked for close to eight years, rising to manager.
Diana holds an MBA in finance from United States International University Africa and a Bachelor's degree in banking and finance from Moi University. She is a certified public accountant.
