He boasts over 26 years of teaching experience and more than 17 years in administrative roles at the management level.
Dr Evans Ombima Amata has been appointed as deputy vice chancellor (DVC) for finance and operations at United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) effective 1 August 2025.
The academic joins the institution from Riara University, where he served as DVC for finance, administration, and planning. He has supervised and mentored over 100 postgraduate students and presented academic papers at local and international conferences.
At Daystar University, Evans held various leadership roles, including acting DVC (finance, administration and planning), acting DVC (academics, research and student affairs), and dean of the School of Business and Economics. He was also chair of the staff provident fund, director of Daystar University Enterprises, and chair of the strategic planning committee.
He holds a BA in rural industries and management, a Master of finance and control, and a PhD in business administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He is also a member of the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute and the CFA Society of East Africa.
