Newly-appointed Old Mutual Life CFO John Omondi brings over 14 years of experience in the industry, including more than a decade in senior finance roles.
John Omondi has taken on the role of chief finance officer at Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya, effective 1 July 2025. He joined the company in June 2024 as finance manager and held the role until his recent appointment.
“My aim is to lead with wisdom, strengthen financial leadership, drive profitable growth, optimise financial performance, foster collaboration, champion data-driven decision-making to support the company's overall strategic goals. I hope to oversee the integration of financial management with strategic planning, ensuring that the company’s financial strategies are aligned with overall long-term business goals,” he said.
John began his career at CfC Life Assurance in March 2011, where he worked as a fund accountant until October 2014. He spent five years at Liberty Life Assurance Kenya, where he held various positions including deputy manager finance from April 2018 to September 2019, team leader financial reporting from April 2015 to March 2018, and accounts analyst from October 2014 to March 2015. Prior to that, he served as finance manager at Britam Life Assurance Company from October 2019 to May 2024.
He holds a BCom in finance and an MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Nairobi. He has also completed professional certifications from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
