Baylor Foundation FD Marie Nassiwa Martin joins the first cohort of nominees in the running for the inaugural ‘Oscars of Finance’.

Baylor Foundation Uganda finance director Marie Nassiwa Martin has been nominated for the 2025 CFO Awards for East Africa. 

The awards highlight outstanding financial leadership, honouring those who have made significant contributions to their organisations and the broader business community.

Marie was appointed to the role of finance director in November 2018 after leaving Umeme, where she served as the CFO for a three-year period starting December 2015. She began her stint at the power distributor in January 2014, when she joined as the finance manager.

Marie began her career as an independent financial advisor at Citi in 2006. She joined Shell in July 2006, where she worked as an analyst in the treasury back office until July 2011. In the same month, she took on the role of project accountant, which she held for three months, transitioning to Morgan Stanley as a legal entity control governance associate in October 2011. After six months, Marie was appointed as a financial accountant at BAE Systems.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and finance from the University of Greenwich.
