Mark Nkurunziza has been appointed the vice president of finance and operations at African School of Governance (ASG). He joins the recently-launched graduate institution after five years as the chief financial officer of MTN Rwanda.

The move comes four months after former MTN Afghanistan CFO and acting CEO Dunstan Stober stepped into the CFO role at MTN Rwanda in an acting capacity.

Previously, Mark served as the chief financial officer at RDB after a seven-year stint as senior financial officer at MTN Rwanda. During his tenure, RDB launched an online system to automate and streamline the processing and issuance of licensing certificates. Mark was the finance manager at national carrier RwandAir from 1998 to 2004 before his entry into the telecommunications industry.

“With over 25 years of financial and operational leadership, including roles at MTN Rwanda, Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and RwandAir, Mark will strengthen ASG’s capacity to deliver impactful programs and advance its mission to develop transformative African leaders,” the institution said.

Mark is a chartered accountant and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He holds an MBA in finance from the Maastricht School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.
