NSSF Uganda CFO Stevens Mwanje has been nominated for the inaugural CFO Awards for East Africa. He will be competing to take home one of the 10 awards up for grabs at the annual ceremony, including the illustrious ‘CFO of the Year’ award.
Stevens Mwanje was appointed as the CFO of NSSF Uganda in October 2017. With a career spanning more than 30 years, he has held various roles in the financial services industry including head of commercial and operations at the social security fund from February 2010 to October 2017.
He began his career as an administrative officer at Mukwano Industries in January 1990. In August 1994, he joined Allied Bank International as a bank teller, rising through the ranks over a period of 11 years. During that time, he served in various positions including head of internal controls unit, chief accountant and head of administration, and bank treasurer. Subsequently, he assumed the role of head of commercial at Bank of Africa Uganda in January 2006, a position he held for four years.
Stevens holds multiple qualifications including a postgraduate diploma in business management from Uganda Management Institute and ACCA certifications in accounting and finance. Stevens is also a certified public accountant (CPA-U) with a postgraduate diploma in business administration from Leicester University and an MBA from Heriot Watt University.
The CFO Awards for East Africa, which recognise finance executives who have demonstrated exceptional leadership at listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities, and government institutions, will be held in Nairobi on 27 November 2025.
