Stevens Mwanje was appointed as the CFO of NSSF Uganda in October 2017.

He is a seasoned finance professional with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. From February 2010 to October 2017, he served as head of commercial and operations at the social security fund.

Stevens started his career as an administrative officer at Mukwano Industries in January 1990. In August 1994, he joined Allied Bank International as a bank teller, rising through the ranks over a period of 11 years. During that time, he served in various positions including head of internal controls unit, chief accountant and head of administration, and bank treasurer. Subsequently, he assumed the role of head of commercial at Bank of Africa Uganda in January 2006, a position he held for four years.

He is a certified public accountant (CPA-U) with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Makerere University and a postgraduate diploma in business management from Uganda Management Institute. Additionally, Stevens holds ACCA certifications in accounting and finance, a postgraduate diploma in business administration from Leicester University, and an MBA from Heriot Watt University. He has also completed executive leadership programmes at University of Pretoria, Strathmore Business School, and Wharton Business School.

It is funded by both employers’ and employees’ contributions and is regulated by the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority. NSSF Uganda manages more than Ush 20 trillion in assets, making it the largest pension fund in the East African Community (EAC).
