Shereena Wilson has been appointed as the chief financial officer of East African Power (EAP). She joins the Kigali-based energy firm after 11 months as fractional CFO at Chiefly & Co, a collective of fractional C-level experts accelerating sustainability for companies.
For the last four years, she has also served as a senior finance consultant at Fintech Forensics, which she founded. She brings to the role over 15 years of experience in strategic finance, risk management, and technology integration, having worked in senior finance roles across the region and globe.
“Shereena’s unique background in finance and technology, spanning forensic investigations, sustainability-driven initiatives, and building strong financial frameworks, aligns perfectly with EAP's mission to drive impactful and sustainable energy solutions across Africa. Her proven expertise in aligning financial strategies with organisational goals will undoubtedly strengthen EAP’s growth and impact,” the company said in a statement.
The Rwanda-based financial strategist began her career as a technical team lead at NT Global Solutions in India in 2007, serving in the role for two years before joining Nambiar Associates in Kigali as an IT specialist and audit junior. In 2011, Shereena became a software developer at Mubima SARL, leveraging her training in computer science. Her career journey has seen her blend her technological expertise with her accounting credentials in various roles such as fractional head of finance and analytics at NT global FZE in Dubai, UAE, director of risk management and specialised audits at Grant Thornton Rwanda, CFO of Sawmill East Africa, and later King Faisal Hospital Rwanda.
From February 2020 to December 2023, Shereena worked as a self employed fractional CFO and fraud investigator, providing her services on a freelance basis.
Speaking about her appointment to EAP, she expressed excitement about the journey ahead.

Shereena holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from Mar Athanasius College of Engineering and an ACCA certification.
