The ideal candidate is deadline-driven, fun-loving, hard-working, an excellent listener and comfortable to engage with and write about top executives across corporate East Africa.

CFO East Africa brings finance executives together, boosting their knowledge, networks and careers through down-to-earth engagement, world-class events and engaging original content. The CFO East Africa community comprises finance executives from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda and is supported by partner organisations that share our vision.

The ideal candidate is based in Nairobi and will report to the CFO Enterprises Head of Content and work very closely with the CFO East Africa community manager and founder.

Responsibilities include:

  • Researching, writing and uploading and managing the content for CFO-EA.com
  • Preparing the weekly CFO East Africa newsletter
  • Playing a key role in the production of CFO Magazine
  • Carrying out and writing up interviews with CFOs, partners and other executives
  • Participating and reporting on CFO East Africa events
  • Collaborating with the CFO East Africa Community Squad, which includes operations, business development and marketing

The ideal candidate has:

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • The confidence to take ownership of projects
  • The ability to interact positively with the team both in person and online
  • Exacting attention to detail in writing, proofing and planning
  • A level of comfort with Google Docs and Sheets (or Word and Excel)
  • The confidence to speak comfortably with high-level executives
  • The ability to self-manage in a work-from-home environment
  • Own transport or ability to get to events and interviews
  • Relevant journalism or communications qualification (or experience)
  • A portfolio showcasing excellent writing and editing work, preferably in the business space

Salary will be marketed-related and will be offered based on experience. Individuals who have not previously held a senior writer position will be considered, based on other experience and competence.

A probation period may be applicable.
