Yusuf resumed his role as CFO in May 2023 after serving as interim managing director at the financial services provider for six months.
Absa Bank Kenya CFO Yusuf Omari has joined the list of nominees for the inaugural CFO Awards for East Africa, becoming the 13th finance leader to enter the running.
The awards, which recognise C-suite finance executives who demonstrate exemplary leadership, will culminate in an exquisite gala dinner scheduled for 27 November in Nairobi.
Yusuf joined Absa Bank Kenya in 2004, working as the head of Internal Audit East and West Africa cluster for four years before taking on the role of head of Compliance. In 2009, he was appointed chief financial officer in 2009. Prior to his time at Absa Bank Kenya, Yusuf worked at audit firm KPMG.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Yusuf is also a board member of the University of Nairobi Enterprise Services and ICPAK.
Yusuf holds an MBA from Strathmore Business School, a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi and is a qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as well as a certified internal auditor.
