John Bugunya

John Bugunya is the CFO of MTN Rwanda.

He also serves as the vice president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR).

He spent over seven years at Cimerwa, Rwanda's largest cement manufacturer, serving as CFO from May 2017 and executive director until 2024. 

Before that, John served as chief executive officer at Prime Insurance in Kigali from December 2014 to April 2017. Earlier, he spent five years as CFO at Bank of Kigali, where he led the bank's IPO and listing on the stock exchange in 2011.

He began his career as an auditor at Ernst & Young (EY) in Kampala in 2003 before moving to Deloitte UK as an audit manager.

John holds an MSc in international finance from the University of London, a Master's degree in accounting and finance from Oxford Brookes University, and a Bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Makerere University. He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
