Lawrence Gathanji is the chief financial officer of Britam General Insurance in Kenya.
He spent his first eight years in Britam's Kenya operations, progressing from assistant accountant to accountant, then management accountant. In 2014 he moved into a financial accountant role at Britam Life Kenya.
In August 2015, Lawrence relocated to Kigali to take up the position of chief accountant at Britam Rwanda. He held the Britam Rwanda CFO role for nearly eight years, overseeing financial controls and cash management, optimising the organisation's cash position and banking relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and tax requirements in the Rwandan market.
Lawrence holds a BCom from Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and a Master's degree in strategic management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He is an ACCA member.
