Bernard, who joins the second cohort of nominees competing in the annual ‘Oscars of Finance’, has led the bank's financial performance agenda since his appointment as CFO in 2024.
Absa Bank Tanzania CFO Bernard Tesha has been nominated for the 2026 CFO Awards, joining a distinguished group of finance leaders competing for the region's most coveted recognition in finance leadership.
Bernard has spent over a decade at Absa Bank Tanzania, having joined in January 2014 as financial reporting manager. He was appointed financial controller in July 2017, a role he held for nearly seven years before being appointed CFO in February 2024. He also serves as an interim board member. Earlier in his career, he spent five years at EY Tanzania, joining as an intern in 2009 and rising to senior auditor.
Bernard holds a Bachelor of accounting and finance from Mzumbe University, a certificate in leadership and general management from GIBS Business School, and has completed an executive coaching course at Strathmore Business School.
Dubbed the "Oscars of Finance" in the region, the CFO East Africa Awards continues to celebrate leaders who raise the bar for financial leadership across East Africa.
The 2026 nominees will be celebrated at a gala event on 26 November, where winners will be announced.
