Until March 2025, Innocent Gatete had served as the head of finance and grants management at Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR).
Innocent Gatete has been appointed as head of strategic projects and implementation at Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD).
This comes after a three-and-a-half year stint as the head of finance and grants management at Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR).
"As I step in into this new role at the Development Bank of Rwanda, I am excited to lead the bank initiatives that aim to improve livelihoods through expanded access to electricity, affordable housing, and enhanced well-being for communities. Development is more than infrastructure, it's about empowering people, creating inclusive opportunities, and ensuring that no one is left behind. I look forward to collaborating with partners and stakeholders to drive sustainable change and deliver measurable impact where it matters most," he says.
Innocent boasts over 12 years of experience in financial strategy, reporting, and risk management spanning the energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, and development finance sectors.
He started his career as a programme officer at the College of Business Studies Rwanda and later joined Kinazi Cassava Plant as an accountant in 2013.
After a year, Innocent took on the role of reporting and fixed assets senior accountant at IHS Towers, where he managed the accounting and reporting function. Following a three-year stint, he was appointed as chief accountant at HQ Power before transitioning to Milbridge Holding SA as the financial controller for East Africa operations.
He holds a Bachelor's in food science from the University of Rwanda (UoR) and an MBA from Heriot Watt University. He has also completed an ACCA certification.
