Risper currently serves as a non-executive director at I&M Bank Kenya. She is also an independent non-executive director and chair of the board audit and risk committee at APA Insurance.

Risper Genga Ohaga is stepping into her next professional chapter after resigning from her role as group CFO and executive director at East African Breweries (EABL). The move will take effect on June 30.

Her departure comes a month after EABL’s parent company Diageo announced an agreement to sell its 65 percent stake in the brewer to Japan’s Asahi Group Holdings for an estimated $2.3 billion.

In her six years with EABL, the brewer earned multiple financial reporting awards and strengthened its governance framework.

“During her tenure, Risper has distinguished herself for her financial acuity and bold decision-making, optimising the company's balance sheet and funding during and after the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure that the strategy is fully funded while costs are well managed to deliver strong results,” the company said.

Her contributions, which transcended the finance function, include building talent and deepening investor relations. This earned her several accolades, including the Women on Boards Award 2024, the Inclusive Leader Award for East Africa 2024 and CFO of the Year 2024. She was also a finalist for the 2025 CFO Awards for East Africa.

Before joining EABL in February 2020, Risper served as CFO at Barclays Bank Zambia and held senior internal audit leadership positions across the banking group, overseeing operations in 13 African countries.

She holds a BCom in accounting from the University of Nairobi and certifications in executive coaching. She is a certified public accountant (CPA-K).
