Wangeci Kanjama joins Equity Group Holdings as chief investment and global markets officer

She has over 20 years of experience across telecoms, fintech, banking, and renewable energy sectors.

Wangeci Kanjama has been appointed as chief investment & global markets officer, technology group at Equity Group Holdings.  

"My focus remains on driving strategic growth and identifying the opportunities that lie at the intersection of innovation and capital. I look forward to the challenges and milestones ahead with this exceptional team," she says.

Wangeci's career spans over two decades of building and scaling financial ecosystems across multiple sectors. Most recently, she served as group CFO at Spiro from November 2023 to August 2025, where she led financial operations for the renewable energy mobility company.

Before joining Spiro, she spent over three years at Mpesa Africa, first as finance director from September 2020 to May 2023, and then as director of partnerships & special projects until September 2023. 

Wangeci's professional foundation was built at Safaricom , where she spent over 13 years in progressively senior roles.

She served as head of business partnering & performance management from January 2019 to September 2020, head of wholesale & roaming from February 2015 to December 2018, and head of business planning & forecasting from July 2007 to January 2015.

Wangeci also serves as a non-executive director at Old Mutual Kenya, a position she has held since August 2023. She holds a BCom in finance and financial management services from the University of Nairobi.
