Andrew Makumbi is the CFO at Old Mutual General Insurance Uganda, a position he assumed in September 2025.
He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Uganda in 2004 as an audit associate and rose to senior audit associate two years later. In 2009 he was promoted to assistant manager, a role he held until 2011.
Andrew moved into the insurance sector in 2012 when he became chief accountant at Jubilee Insurance Company of Uganda. He later joined AIG Uganda as chief financial officer, before transferring to Johannesburg in 2015 as regional operational controller. Early the following year, he was appointed chief financial officer of AIG Kenya.
In 2019 he returned to Uganda to take up the role of chief financial officer at Jubilee Insurance Uganda, where he served for nearly five years. After a short period as an independent finance professional, he joined Old Mutual to lead financial operations for its general, health, and properties businesses.
Andrew holds a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Makerere University. He is a certified public accountant (CPA), a fellow of the association of chartered certified accountants (FCCA), and a fellow of the institute of financial consultants (FIFC).
