Hannah Kariithi is the acting chief finance officer of Britam Life Assurance Company (Kenya). She was appointed to the role in May 2026, having joined Britam as finance manager seven months earlier.
Hannah began her career at Crowe Erastus and Co in December 2009 as an audit assistant, preparing audit plans, gathering evidence and producing final accounts for clients across multiple sectors, including NGO-funded programmes. She moved into insurance at Kenya Orient Insurance in February 2013 as a graduate apprentice, gaining exposure across finance, claims, underwriting and customer service before being confirmed as accountant in September 2014. In that role she oversaw financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, budget management and audit coordination, and was part of the team that contributed to Kenya Orient Insurance receiving two awards at the 2015 Company of the Year Awards.
In May 2017 she joined Phoenix of East Africa as a financial accountant, where she led the full preparation of accounts from the trial balance, eliminating manual entries, and oversaw compliance, budgeting and audit processes. She moved to MUA Mauritius and East Africa in April 2019 as deputy manager of finance, a role she held for five years. In June 2024 she joined Cannon Group as finance manager before moving to Britam in October 2025.
Hannah holds a BCom in accounting from the University of Nairobi and is a certified public accountant (CPA-K).
