Fredrick Kahenya appointed head of finance for Crop Science Africa at Bayer

He previously served as CFO of the company's Africa region for over five years and brings additional experience from CFO roles at Osprey Renewables and Zambia Seed Company.

Fredrick Kahenya has been appointed head of finance for Crop Science Africa at Bayer, effective October 2026.

The appointment marks a return to the company for Fredrick, who previously served as CFO of Bayer's Africa region from January 2015 to June 2020, following the company's acquisition of Monsanto.

His career spans over three decades in finance across Kenya, the United States and sub-Saharan Africa.

He spent nearly eight years at Monsanto Company in St Louis, progressing from US accounting services through senior financial analyst and decision analyst roles before relocating to Nairobi when Bayer completed its acquisition of Monsanto in 2018.

As CFO for Africa, he led the finance operations of the commercial business across several sub-Saharan markets.

After leaving Bayer in 2020, he served as group CFO of Zambia Seed Company, spent a brief period as CFO at Food for Education in Nairobi, and most recently served as CFO of Osprey Renewables from January 2024 to August 2026.

Fredrick holds a BA in economics from the University of Nairobi and an MBA in finance from Webster University. He is a certified public accountant and holds a qualification from the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
