Regional CEO Patrick Mweheire to deliver keynote address at CFO East Africa Uganda launch

The regional CEO of Standard Bank Group in East Africa, Patrick Mweheire, is set to deliver a keynote address at the CFO East Africa Uganda Launch Summit to be held in Kampala on the evening of 22 August 2024.

“It is an absolute honour to be invited to speak at the CFO East Africa Summit in Kampala,” Patrick says. “I look forward to discussing the benefit of building executive communities that I have seen in my own career. Having worked with a number of CFOs over the years, I will be happy to share my insights on what I have seen to be their success factors working with CEOs and other members of the executive.”

Patrick has over 28 years of experience in global banking. He began his career at Merrill Lynch & Co, New York, where he worked as a director: investment banking and executed numerous M&A transactions for some of the world’s leading financial sponsors for nine years. Prior to joining Stanbic Bank Uganda (SBU) in 2012, he spent four years focusing on banking across the African continent with Renaissance Capital in London and Nairobi.

During his five-year tenure as chief executive of SBU, Patrick led several transformational reforms, strengthened the bank’s leading position in the country and managed to grow its profitability 92 percent. Patrick is currently the regional chief executive for Standard Bank Group in East Africa, a key growth vector for the group and responsible for the strategic direction of the banking franchises in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi and South Sudan.

Patrick is a distinguished finance professional with an impressive educational background that underscores his expertise and leadership in the financial industry. He holds an MBA from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business, earned in 1999. Furthering his executive acumen, Patrick completed an executive programme at Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2022, solidifying his strategic and managerial capabilities. Additionally, he is registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in the US with series 7 and 63 qualifications, as well as with the Financial Services Authority in the UK, showcasing his deep commitment to adhering to the highest regulatory standards in the financial sector.
