Saket Mohta has been appointed Regional Finance director: Africa & Middle East, for Bata Group.

As a senior finance executive with more than 20 years of experience, Saket moves into his new role following a two-year tenure as Bata South Africa's Finance director. He has a long and proud history with the company, having previously worked in its biggest region, India, and Bata’s head office in Lausanne, Switzerland.

"When I landed in South Africa just as the pandemic hit, I knew that I had my work cut out for me with many challenges ahead. But with a very supportive team, we managed to sustain the business during a very difficult economic time,” he said.

Saket added, “I am proud to continue my journey with Bata, and to leverage the experience I have gained in the Southern African market to drive our business goals in the Africa & Middle East Region. I have gained so much valuable experience and am looking forward to the new challenge of expanding our Bata business beyond Africa.”

Bata country manager, Michael Wyatt, said, “Saket has been instrumental in the implementation of strategies that have now set Bata SA on an upward trajectory, with major plans to expand our footprint on the continent and beyond. He’s worked on a number of global projects and was handpicked for the Bata Leaders of Tomorrow learning experience programme in Kuala Lumpur which gathered together over 30 of our key talents globally. We have no doubt that with Saket as Regional Finance director, Bata Africa will not only meet but exceed our targets.”
